There are many details involved in a long distance move
Coverage is a very important part of moving.

Please keep in mind that when you are hiring a mover, you are purchasing human services; accidents can happen. We have explained both options to better help you decide which option best suits your needs. For more information, please consult one of our Certified Moving Consultants.

  Free Moving Quote
Released Value of $0.60 per pound per article
This is a basic liability level of valuation coverage and it is provided at no charge. It is considerably less than the average value of household goods. If any article is lost, or damaged while in your mover’s custody; your mover’s liability is limited to the actual weight of the item. Remember to declare any Extra Ordinary Value Items to your mover. For more information please see our Moving Extraordinary Items article.
Comprehensive Insurance
This is an insurance option that is available through your home owner’s / renters insurance provider. You may also contact Moving Insurance (www.movinginsurance.com ) to get a quote for Full Value Replacement. You will need to declare the total value of your shipment and any Extraordinary Items. Keep in mind, if you ship any hazardous items/materials, your claim may be denied. For more information, please see our Non Shippable Items article.
Building Requirements
When you are moving long distance there are many details to cover in one’s move. Be sure to check with your building at both locations if they require additional insurance. Most moving companies need to advise their insurance provider at least 72 hours prior to the move out or move in date. Most likely there is a cost for this service. Depending on your building(s), some may only request to be added on the Certificate Holder; this service should be provided at no additional cost.
